This is what I am talking about when I say meditate …

There is a story that every Indian has heard 1000 times over. But I must put it in perspective…

A brief history of fighting & panic

Arjuna was shitting in his pants before the war started… (You have heard it. But bear for a few seconds more…I am driving home a point…)

Arjuna had a panic attack of sorts…

His bow fell from his hands… He was like, “Krishna why the hell are you making me fight this fight… We all are gonna die anyways? blah blah blah blah…”

“I can’t fight. But I gotta fight. I am panicking. What do you I do? Ahhh.. look my hands are trembling… I am gonna die… we all gonna die… Ahhh…”

Krishna realizes that Arjuna has been taken over by panic and an emotional reaction that is fragile…

Take it one way, he will be all madness… Take it other way he will run away from his fight…

Like a good coach, he must guide him not just for the war but for life… But where is the time? The war is about to start…

The other guys in the war are equally desperate. Because of their respect for Krishna, they are waiting. But Krishna can’t hold them for long.

“What the … What are these two guys upto, Bhishma?” — whispers are circling the battlefield.

So what Krishna does in such a desperate time. Reveals to Arjuna the secrets of meditation and yoga…

Even better.

He sings it. (Krishna is all charm). The song is famously called BhagvadGita.

The art of mental balance.

So, what do I mean by meditation…

Bring back the mental balance.

No even better.

Protect the mind from gripping imbalance in the first place.

Meditation is not a passive hallucination…

…But a re-calibration of flickering mind to act wisely and effectively.

It is a skill to stay calm and composed in face of any situation.

Panic erodes intellect.

Panic attack cripples you physically, make you do things you would never do in right mindset.

Meditation relieves you from this grip and gets your mind ready to receive and respond.

Even better. It helps in panic distancing.

The obvious conclusion

In context of COVID19 response, imagine if front-line workers panic.

They need to keep mental balance. That’s an obvious one.

They are fighting. They are frustrated. They must keep the calm. And continue to fight with strength.

Now, the important conclusion

But what about you and me in self-isolation?

We stay inside we are PANIC20… We venture out, we are COVID19…

We are sitting ducks to panic.

We are sitting ducks to frustration.

We are sitting ducks to emotional outbursts. To domestic fights.

Take it one side, we could be fighty and reckless. Take it other side, we could be depressed.

That’s reality…

No where to run. No where to hide. We are as much in middle of the battlefield as Arjuna was…

I wish I had a coach like Krishna

Like Arjuna, we wish we had a coach who could guide us with a song.

Re-calibrate emotions…

Refresh mind…

Guide to fight it right …

Bring back the control…

It is really worth having such a coach.

Nonetheless, we have meditations.

Mental Balance

We all must garner strength to fight the negative…

We can’t fight this negative by bursting out or by reacting.

We can’t fight it by fighting with spouse or fighting with people in stores. That’s not a COVID19 response. That’s a COVID19 playing with our minds.

We must respond with steadiness.

So, we must meditate for mental balance.

Thanks to technology, many good meditations are available now from masters who can be seen no less than Krishna.

The first one you definitely need from the pack is this … Transforming Emotions…

Transform negative into positive is the first important step.

Let me know how you feel after this one. Did you feel composed and in control?

Let’s fight it right.
